The Ethel Spring Forward Sweepstakes Official Rules

THE ETHEL SPRING FORWARD SWEEPSTAKES OFFICIAL RULES

NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT NECESSARY TO ENTER. A PURCHASE OR PAYMENT WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.

1. BRIEF OVERVIEW: THE ETHEL SPRING FORWARD (“Promotion”) takes place between Monday, March 30th, 10:00 AM Eastern Time, through Friday, May 8th, 11:59 PM Eastern Time (“Promotion Period”). The Promotion consists of a grand prize sweepstakes. More specific details are stated below in these official rules (“Official Rules”).

2. ELIGIBILITY: The Promotion is open to all legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia, who are at least 18 years old as of the date of entry (“Entrants”), except for current officers, directors, and employees (and members of their household and immediate families, i.e., parents, children, spouse, siblings) of AARP (also referred to as “Administrator”), its subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising/promotion agencies, and/or their affiliates, assigns or representatives, and all other persons or entities associated with the development, administration, promotion, execution of, supply to or printing of this Promotion (hereinafter referred to along with Administrator collectively as “Administrator & Others”).

3. HOW TO PARTICIPATE/WINNER SELECTION/PRIZE/ODDS OF WINNING:

A. Entry Procedures:  To enter the Promotion, visit AARP’s website at https://ethel.aarp.org/sweepstakes/entry between Monday, March 30th, 10:00 AM Eastern Time through Friday, May 8th, 11:59 PM Eastern Time and completely fill out Administrator’s designated entry form (“Official Entry Form”), including by entering full name, physical address and email. Entrants are responsible for determining the appropriate beginning and ending times in their respective time zones. Upon submission of the completed Official Entry Form, each Entrant will be entered into the Promotion. Only one (1) entry per individual Entrant is permitted.

B. Winner Selection: On Friday, May 29th, at approximately 1:00 PM Eastern Time, Administrator will, randomly select 20 Official Entry Forms from among all of the Official Entry Forms received throughout the Promotion Period in order to determine the potential Promotion winner (each a “Grand Prize Winner”).

C. Notification of Grand Prize Winner: On Friday, May 29th, at approximately 2:00 PM Eastern Time Administrator will attempt to notify each potential Grand Prize Winner by email using the contact information provided on the Official Entry Form. The potential Grand Prize Winner must reply to the Administrator’s notification within two (2) weeks of its receipt to claim the Grand Prize. The return of any prize notification message or document as undeliverable will result in disqualification of the applicable Grand Prize Winner, the forfeiture of their interest in the prize and the selection of a substitute Grand Prize Winner in accordance with these Official Rules.

D. Grand Prize Winner Requirements: Upon Administrator’s request, the potential Grand Prize Winner will be required to provide proper identification, execute an affidavit of eligibility, liability waiver, and publicity release, and complete any applicable tax documents, including an IRS W-9 or equivalent form. Administrator or its representative reserves the right to verify that the Entrant’s proper identification matches their Official Entry Form and meets the Promotion’s eligibility requirements. Entrant agrees that, if Entrant is selected to be a potential Grand Prize Winner, the award of any prize to Entrant will be subject to verification of their eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules. If any potential Grand Prize Winner is disqualified, Administrator will randomly select another Official Entry Form from among the remaining Official Entry Forms to determine the Grand Prize Winner in accordance with these Official Rules.

E. Prize Details: Each Grand Prize Winner will receive The Ethel Logo Tote ($10), Everyday Tumbler ($20), Signature Sunnies ($10), On-The-Go Luggage Tag ($7.50), Ethel Visor ($10) and Legacy Scarf  ($20).  (“Grand Prize”). Approximate Retail Value (“ARV”) of the Grand Prize: $77.50. If the actual ARV of the Grand Prize differs from its stated ARV in these Official Rules, the Grand Prize Winner will not receive the difference in value. THIS SWEEPSTAKES IS IN NO WAY SPONSORED, ENDORSED OR ADMINISTERED BY, OR ASSOCIATED WITH FACEBOOK / META PLATFORMS, INC.

F. Odds of Winning: The odds of winning a Grand Prize depend on the total number of eligible Official Entry Forms received.

G. Membership / Purchase / Payment Not Required: Individuals do not need to be an AARP member or make any purchase or payment in order to enter and/or win the Promotion. Being an AARP member or making a purchase or payment will not increase an Entrant’s odds of winning.

H. Prize Limit: An Entrant, including a member of their household, regardless of email address or phone number used, may only win one (1) prize throughout the Promotion Period. Prizes are not transferable or substitutable except by Administrator with one of equal or greater value. Administrator is not responsible for any Entrant’s inability to utilize a prize.

I. Final Prize Determination: Entrants selected as a potential Grand Prize Winner will receive a Grand Prize only after having been confirmed as the Grand Prize Winner. All federal, state and local taxes are solely the responsibility of the Grand Prize Winner. At the sole discretion of the Administrator, disqualification, forfeiture and the selection of an alternate Grand Prize Winner may result from any of the following: (a) a potential Grand Prize Winner’s failure, upon request, to provide Administrator with satisfactory proof of age, identity, residency, and/or eligibility; (b) a potential Grand Prize Winner’s failure to comply in a timely manner with any of the Grand Prize Winner requirements stated in Section 3 of these Official Rules; (c) a potential Grand Prize Winner’s failure to accept or utilize the Grand Prize as provided herein; or (d) any other non-compliance, as determined by Administrator in its sole discretion, with the Official Rules. In no event will the Administrator award more prizes than are stated in these Official Rules. In the event that an Entrant’s name is selected more than once over the course of the Promotion, Administrator will redraw to select an alternate Entrant. In the event that more Entrants claim to hold a winning Official Entry Forms than as permitted by these Official Rules, Administrator will conduct a random drawing among such claimants to award the Grand Prize.

4. LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY: Administrator & Others are not responsible for interrupted or unavailable network server or other connections; for miscommunications; failed telephone, computer or electronic transmissions; for jumbled, scrambled or misdirected entries or transmissions; for phone, electrical, network, technology or computer hardware or software or program malfunctions, failures or difficulties; or any other errors, omissions, interruptions, or deletions of any kind, whether human, mechanical or electronic; or for non-receipt of any entry regardless of the cause of it not being properly received by Administrator. Administrator & Others are not responsible for illegible, unintelligible, late, lost or stolen entries; for incorrect or inaccurate entry information, whether caused by Internet users or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Promotion; or for any technical, printing or human errors which may occur in the receipt, non-receipt or processing of any entries, tickets or ticket stubs in the Promotion.

5. INTEGRITY OF PROMOTION: Persons found tampering with or abusing any aspect of the Promotion, as determined in the sole discretion of Administrator, will be disqualified and may be subject to prosecution. Any person attempting to enter using multiple email addresses or phone numbers, multiple identities or any other device or artifice to enter multiple times or to interfere with the proper play of the Promotion will be disqualified from participation in the Promotion. If, in the judgment of Administrator, the Promotion is compromised by viruses, bugs, non-authorized human intervention or other causes beyond the control of Administrator, which may corrupt the administration, security, fairness or proper play of the Promotion, Administrator reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to modify, discontinue, suspend or terminate the Promotion and proceed to select potential winners in a manner it deems fair and reasonable.

6. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTY: ADMINISTRATOR & OTHERS MAKE NO WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR NONINFRINGEMENT AS REGARDS ANY PRIZE OR ANY COMPONENT OF ANY PRIZE. SOME JURISDICTIONS MAY NOT ALLOW LIMITATIONS OF EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OR EXCLUSION OF IMPLIED WARRANTIES. CHECK YOUR LOCAL LAWS TO LEARN IF ANY OF THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS OR EXCLUSIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

7. PRIVACY POLICY: Any personal information collected during an Entrant's participation in the Promotion will be collected, used and retained by Administrator in accordance with Administrator's Privacy Policy as stated at https://www.aarp.org/privacy/.

8. PUBLICITY AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS: By submitting an Official Entry Form and being selected to win the Grand Prize, each Entrant grants Administrator & Others the perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, and worldwide right, license, and permission to use, record, reproduce, distribute, edit, reuse, transmit, publish, or republish, in whole or in part, Entrant’s name, image, likeness, voice, sound effects, biographical information, interview, statements, and actions (“Appearance”), in connection with the Promotion, including for promotional purposes. Each Entrant further grants Administrator & Others the perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, and worldwide right, license, and permission to use, edit, reproduce, distribute, publicly display, publicly perform, and/or make derivative works of, in whole or in part, any material submitted for entry into the Promotion (“Entry Materials”), in connection with the Promotion, including for promotional purposes. Entrant understands that they will not have any right of approval or receive any compensation because of Administrator & Others’ use of Entrant’s Appearance or Entry Materials. By entering the Promotion, each Entrant waives any right to assert any claim against Administrator & Others and their respective employees, affiliates, agents, vendors, and licensees, relating to any use of Entrant’s Appearance, Entry Materials, and/or participation in the Promotion.

9. GOVERNING LAW: Issues concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules shall be governed by the laws of Washington, DC.

10. RELEASE: By participating, each Entrant releases and agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Administrator & Others and Meta Platforms, Inc. from and against any and all costs, claims, damages, or any other injury, whether due to negligence or otherwise, to person(s) or property (including, without limitation, death or violation of any intellectual property or personal rights, such as violation of right of publicity/privacy, libel, or slander), due in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, to participation in the Promotion, or arising out of the receipt, use or misuse, or enjoyment of the Grand Prize.

11. GENERAL: By entering the Promotion, entrants agree to abide and to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of Administrator, which shall be final in all matters pertaining to this Promotion. All Official Entry Forms become property of Administrator and will not be returned. Void outside of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia and wherever prohibited or restricted by law. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply.

12. WINNERS LIST: To obtain the name of Grand Prize Winners, send a properly stamped, self-addressed envelope, by June 29th, to AARP Winners List, Attn: Julie McGuire A8-333A, 601 E Street NW, Washington, DC 20049.
